Story
Wren is one of a batch of engines built by Beyer-Peacock & Co in 1887 for the 18 inch gauge works tramway system at Horwich. There were eight of these locomotives, of which Wren was the last survivor. It weighs approximately 3.6 tonnes. Wren worked until 1957, after which it was kept until 1963 as a standby for the diesel locomotive which replaced it. Heavy loads were handled by these locomotives from one part of the works to another. One of their lighter duties was to distribute wages round the workshops.
